Be Not Afraid (Bob Dufford)

Performed by Libby Saxton (Director of Music and Liturgy at St. Michael) and Ken Boyce (Director of Music at St Joan of Arc). Reflection by Libby Saxton:

The popular Catholic hymn "Be Not Afraid" is found in hymnals of every Christian denomination. It is the perfect prayer for times of transition, fear, and grief. The title comes from the composer Fr. Bob Dufford's reflection of Mary's encounter with the Angel Gabriel. Mary must have been frightened and unsure what to do with a child, let alone the Son of God! We can take comfort in her response and God's promise "I go before you always; come, follow me, and I will give you rest."
